A set consisting of four Wilkhahn “Flexor” armchairs model 856-0 and a matching coffee table designed by Georg Leowald in 1954. The two black leather armchairs have already been reupholstered in the past. The two wine-red armchairs are in their original condition and should be reupholstered. The integrated suspension in the armchair results in a unique seating experience.
Excerpt from a text on the Wilkhahn website (https://www.wilkhahn.com/blog/de/bauhausschueler/): “At this point in time, Wilkhahn was already working with designers committed to modernism, such as the architect Georg Leowald, who was in of the Bauhaus tradition. Later he himself became a teacher at the HfG Ulm (1957-59). Leowald, for example, designed the innovative Flexor chair for Wilkhahn (1954) with a torsion spring made of fiberglass rods underneath the seat.”
Condition: see pictures, used, vintage condition, a lot of rust on the metal frames, scrapes and scratches on the table, the 2 red chairs should be reupholstered, restoration recommended
