Rare and strange lighting sofa, model “Via Lattea” or previously also “Stardust” designed in 2007 by the designer Mario Bellini for the Italian manufacturer Meritalia. The production of this sofa also seems to be an early “stardust”, as the sofa was originally lit with halogen spotlights. The sofa was subsequently equipped with a LED lighting. The elements are connected by a zipper and can also be placed individually.
The sofa is based on the use of materials that are foreign to the traditional world of upholstered furniture. The sofa is filled with hundreds of “Air Ravioli” originating in the packaging sector – plastic buffers filled with air. A light yet sturdy stainless steel mesh surrounds the buffers and brings them into shape. Very freaky and comfortable. However, it crackles when you sit in it.
